About Epic · the nation’s largest 3M window film dealer

Do it right. Every time. That’s the whole company.

Epic Security & Architectural Window Films and Graphics is a national, 100% woman-owned 3M Platinum Elite National Dealer headquartered in McKinney, Texas with an office in Aurora, Colorado. We specialize in security and architectural window film, solar control, decorative and privacy films, large-format graphics — and in the installation standard that makes any of it worth buying.

The origin

It started in a school vestibule.

In 2018 Kelly and Chris Eder visited their children’s Texas elementary school and noticed the security window film in the vestibule had been installed improperly — film that was supposed to protect students and would have failed under impact. They couldn’t let it go.

Chris had spent more than twenty years in the industry — including inventing the first security film attachment system for blast mitigation, used across federal buildings and embassies after 9/11 — and had stepped away. After meeting with 3M, the Eders re-entered the industry with one commitment: do it right, every time. Epic’s mission is not to sell film. It is to protect the people behind the glass.

Eight years later Epic is the largest 3M window film dealer in the nation, 3M Dealer of the Year multiple years running, with an award from 3M in every year since its first year in business, and the company awarded the largest school security film project in U.S. history — after the district tested the competition.

Founder credentials

Not just anybody gets selected to work on the White House — or an embassy in Kazakhstan.

Before Epic, Chris Eder’s company was the one the federal government and the State Department called when the glass had to hold: the White House and the Smithsonian, every EPA facility across the nation including the entire Federal Triangle, agency headquarters throughout Washington, and complete U.S. embassies and ambassadors’ residences on three continents — Rome, Malta, Luxembourg, the Vatican, Kazakhstan. The buildings named below are a sample, not the list. It is why a school district or a building owner can trust the same hands and the same standard today.

Leadership

The people who answer for the work.

Dr. Kelly Eder, DNAP, CRNAPresident & Owner · Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice

Dr. Kelly Eder, DNAP, CRNA

Dr. Eder holds a Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice and has spent more than twenty years as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, earning her doctorate while running Epic — 100% owner of the company, and mother of three Texas students. The reason Epic’s standard is what it is. Kelly has a long history of developing and executing innovative strategies with a collaborative, results-driven approach — and having witnessed school safety concerns firsthand, she applies that insight to safety and security applications that protect the people behind the glass.

Chris EderChief Visionary Officer

Chris Eder

Industry pioneer, entrepreneur and inventor — in security window film since the mid-1990s with installations across the world. Chris invented the first security film attachment system for blast mitigation in the mid-1990s, used worldwide before and after 9/11 and the standard on most federal buildings afterward; the company he was with then helped the GSA write the security film standards still in use today. Project history includes the White House, the Department of State, complete U.S. embassies and ambassadors’ residences on three continents (Italy, Malta, Luxembourg, Kazakhstan), every EPA facility in the nation including the entire Federal Triangle, the Smithsonian museums, the Inter-American Development Bank and federal buildings throughout Washington. Between 2005 and 2017 he designed, patented and manufactured in the custom motorcycle industry, with parts distributed to builders worldwide and appearances on national television. At Epic: inventor of the patent-pending Epic Method, the Epic Precision cutting software and tools, and the Epic facility energy estimator. Read the full story →
